For those moments...

Canon 5d Mark II w/ 50mm at f/ 2.8 at ISO 100 for 1/1500 sec.
Everyone knows this device is a threat to all those who dare tread on its slippery surface.  But that's not the world we live in.  We live in a world where we face our fears and live our dreams.  And in those moments, we rule.

For those that are really curious, this moment occurred at precisely 1:43:04 on 23 February 2012.

Levitation

Canon 5D Mark II, w/ 50mm set to 1/2000sec at f/2.0, ISO 400.

I took this picture of Erin during a meetup.com photoshoot in downtown Honolulu.  We were going for a levitation shot, where the model appears to be floating in mid air.  This is a simple setup really, just have the model jump and freeze the action with a really quick shutter speed.

Thanks again to Erin, who totally makes this shot look easy.  In fact it was rather cumbersome to keep jumping in order for the photogs to get their timing right!

It's Tough Looking Awesome

Dear son,

It's tough looking awesome, but you pull it off well.  Nice shoes.

With love,
your father

Got an Itch?

Hi.  My name is Lenny and I'm a back scratcher.  I've got magical hands.  Pay no attention to my nails, you won't even notice them.

This is a reminder to myself to stay focused on scratching that itch.  No, I'm not equipped like Lenny here, but I've got a [photo] bug that has caused this itch.  I've been ignoring it for so long.  Computer problems, other things, and family matters have all pulled my attention away.  But without those events, I wouldn't realize how much I enjoy photography.  So, here's to life and staying focused on my itch.

Concerned

Canon 5d Mark II with 100mm set to 1/90 at 4.0.
I seen concern in his eyes.  Perhaps an unknown future, perhaps his significant other is growing distant, perhaps it is fear of acceptance at a new barber.  Concern none the less for something not seen in this picture.  This picture was taken on the same day with the previous post.  I've been behind in my posting skills.  I've been re-inspired by some friends getting into photography and my local photography group encouraging me.  Expect more pictures to come in the days to follow, as I work with my friends and inspiration to deliver more.  Shot out to Adam, and his new Photography Business.  Send me a link, I want to see the good stuff you do!

How to Tag a Photo

Camera: Canon 5D Mark II. Son: Elijah.
I didn't set this picture up, but I recognized it as soon as I saw it.  And as soon as I saw it, I knew that this picture would be posted with the guidance of how to properly geotag a photo.  It was only luck that Eli turned around and I was able to get his better side.  Cheers!

Eyes of the Tiger

Canon 5D Mark II, 100mm 2.8L set to f/ 3.5 for 1/350 sec at  ISO 100.
Zoo visits are some of the best times for me.  Tons of animals to shoot (with a camera) and no threat of getting eaten.  I would frame this picture to put over the bed if the wife would let me.  Not on the wall near the bed, but literally, as a larger than life print on the ceiling over my bed.  I think she'll come around...
